Bob Holness

Radio 6 has just told me the sad news that Bob Holness has died today, he was 83.

Like most people my age, I was a huge fan of Blockbusters: the two against one format, the brightly lit game board, the Gold Run and Bob’s sharp suited eloquence underpinning it all…. Marvellous.

And who can forget the unbridled, side-splitting hilarity when either of those two immortal phrases came up….

“I’ll have a P please Bob…”

and the timeless

“I’ll have an E please Bob…”
